Can a company request relocation expenses and wages for early withdrawal of a relocation contract?

My wife just left a company that paid for her relocation. She was not happy with the position and went to another company. Her contract was concerning relocation expenses, but the company has requested those expenses and the wages she was paid during the entire employment.

They are entitled to the relocation expenses, however they are not entitled to the wages paid.

I’ve never heard of a company requesting wages back – do you mean a signing bonus?
Yes, it’s legal (and more than likely in the contract) to have to reimburse the company for the moving expenses and any signing bonus if she did not meet the min. amount of time laid out in the contract.

It is specific to her individual contract.
Question is too vague, which company is requesting reimbursement, the one she represented, on her behalf or for their own profit or the company she reneged on, as compensation for lost investment in her?
