The only time you use a Relocation Specialist (RS) is when you are assigned one by the company that is paying for your move.

Otherwise you will find that the designation RS is meaningless. Any one of 50,000 agents can add RS to their letterhead.

Agents do not do much when it comes to apartments to rent. You will accomplish much more on your own. And be open to renting a house for a few dollars more.

In some states you pay the agent for finding an apartment; in others the apartment pays them. Protect yourself by reading the fine print in anything you sign (unless the company is paying). Cross-out any sentences that obligate you to pay for services that you don't want or need. Cross anything you don't understand perfectly.

I am relocating to Oregon-went to Craigslist- the town I needed is there-checked rentals-found houses-condos and apartments.
If the town is not there, google it and look for rentals; usually they can help with moving as well.
If the relocation specialist does not charge, by all means ask away. I think they charge the landlord a portion of the rent.
