The additional cost to live away from the family?
Haruka asked:
I heard that business bachelors are not so many in the US. Could anyone let me know how much extra fees a company has to pay to him/her if they are transferred away from their homes. In our case, we will soon appoint a new president of our sister company in the US. The new president is now living in Atlanta, and he will have to move to LA. He needs to return to Atlanta every weekend to spend his time with his family. I think we have to bear the travel expenses. Is any other fee we should bear according to the common practice in the US ?

Relocation To Atlanta
He needs to return to Atlanta every weekend to spend his time with his family. — This would never be acceptable to a typical firm. Normal would be to pay for a trip back once a month on the business account. If he wants to go more often, it’s on his dime.
There will be huge sticker shock moving GA – CA (CA is 4x the cost of living)
What you need to do is facilitate the executives move so family gets re-settled ASAP. You might find it cheaper to purchase his home at market price get him and family moved now.
Hope you have the relocation expenses, including courtesy trips home covered by an agreement so that if exec quits he/she has to pay the money back to you.

I think it’s just best to move with him. It’ll lower the chances of infidelity, and also a lot of money.
